FAQs
Does this flight go all the way to the tip of the Cape Peninsula?
Yes. Unlike shorter scenic flights that turn back at Hout Bay, this is a full-circuit "Two Oceans" experience. You will fly the entire length of the peninsula to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, which is the southwesternmost point of the African continent. You’ll see the dramatic 200m-high cliffs and the historic lighthouse from an angle that is impossible to reach by car or foot.
Will I see the "line" where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet?
While the mythical "line" between the oceans is a popular legend, from the air at Cape Point, you can often see a distinct difference in water color and current patterns where the cold Benguela and warm Agulhas currents influence the area. This flight gives you the best possible vantage point to see the churning waters of False Bay on one side and the open Atlantic on the other.
Do we see the Penguins at Boulders Beach from the air?
As you return from Cape Point, the flight path follows the False Bay coastline, passing over Simon’s Town and Boulders Beach. While the helicopters maintain a regulated altitude to protect the environment, you can clearly see the white sandy coves of the penguin colony and the naval fleet in the harbor. You will also pass over the shark-spotting beaches of Muizenberg and the surfing "Surfers' Corner" before crossing back toward the city.
Is the price per person or for the whole helicopter?
The price listed on the City Sightseeing site is per person. Because this is a long-distance 50-minute flight requiring more fuel and flight time, most bookings require a minimum of 2 or 3 passengers to depart. If you are a solo traveler, the tour operator will try to "match" you with an existing group, or you may be asked to cover the cost of a second seat to guarantee the departure.
How does this route differ from the "Two Oceans" or "Atlantico" flights?
This is the "ultimate" version of those flights. The Atlantico only goes as far as Hout Bay (20 mins), and the Two Oceans reaches roughly the mid-peninsula (27 mins). Only the Cape Point flight (50 mins) completes the full loop of the entire Table Mountain National Park marine protected area. If your goal is to see the iconic "End of the World" lighthouse and the return leg over the Constantia winelands, this is the only route that covers those specific landmarks.
